On Saturday afternoon, a New Moon Solar Eclipse occurs in the sign of Taurus. It serves as a powerful prompt to start fresh.
This eclipse is the second in a Taurus-Scorpio set that began in November 2021 with a Lunar Eclipse in Taurus. It’s the first Solar Eclipse in Taurus in this set. Its effects can be felt for six months.
In the sign of Taurus, this eclipse brings a strong focus on matters related to personal finances, values, ownership, physical and material resources, personal possessions, feelings of worthiness, desire for safety and security, resistance to change, comfort, sensuality, and familiarity. New beginnings regarding all of these life departments are possible, and long-term changes are in the works!
A similar Solar Eclipse occurred on April 29th, 2014. An eclipse set along the Taurus-Scorpio axis most recently occurred from 2012 to 2014. Before that, it was from 2003-2004.

The Coming Jupiter–Neptune Conjunction
An important cosmic event will happen in about three days: a Jupiter-Neptune conjunction will take place on April 12, at 14:43 GMT. In fact, it won't be just a conjunction, the planets will also be close to a precise parallel of declination (the parallel will be precise on the previous day). (If you are not familiar with declination and parallels, pay attention to an announcement below.) So this will be like a super-conjunction. Some schools of astrology would call it an occultation, others — a "planetary eclipse". Let's also not forget that both Jupiter and Neptune will be in the sign of their dignity, so their impact on the world will, most probably, be very noticeable. What kind of impact that could be? Many astrologers in anticipation of this conjunction wrote about a heightened spiritual awareness, mystical insights, idealism and generosity, and other such generally positive things. And they were correct in doing that, of course. Reinhold Ebertin wrote in his COSI book that the combination of Jupiter's and Neptune's energies is associated with the love of humanity, idealism, mysticism, interest in art. Michael Munkasey wrote in his Midpoints book that this pair produces "Expansiveness and wholesome joviality combined with confusion and neglect to bring an inner focus upon and/or elaboration of daydreams or visions... and a belief that goals and obligations can be explained away as you tire of meeting them". Charles Harvey wrote in Mundane Astrology that Jupiter-Neptune cycle "has a strongly idealistic, humanitarian and ideological quality about it", and that it is related to the unfoldment of idealistic and religious belief systems. I see this coming conjunction from a somewhat different viewpoint. Back in December, in Issue #130 of Lunarium News, I wrote about Jupiter's ingress into Pisces. I didn't like it: in the chart cast for Moscow Mars was exactly on the Ascendant, in a precise aspect with Pluto and in a quincunx with unpredictable Uranus. I also noticed that on the astrocartography map the line of Mars was coming not far from Moscow and then across the Ukraine. I wrote: "It looks to me like someone might be overly optimistic about their power, and keen to expand". Now we can see how it worked out: Putin got overly optimistic indeed and started what he hoped to be a blitzkrieg. That plan failed, but nevertheless Putin succeeded in the information war, in keeping a great part of Russia's population, and even some foreigners, under the delusion of Russia doing a good and necessary thing to restore its greatness. Using for this tightly controlled mass media, of course. So this is another way how Jupiter and Neptune can manifest themselves in Pisces: producing shameless but powerful lies that attempt to hide away even the most horrible of atrocities. How could this pair of planets manifest itself in the near future? One possibility is that Putin's regime will attempt to somehow disguise the failure of his campaign, even if only in the eyes of Russia's population. But there remains other, more negative possibility: the use of chemical weapons, which is now often mentioned as a possibility in the news of the war. Perhaps as a provocation. In that case, the Jupiter-Neptune-on-the-Descendant line passing through Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and other countries might hint to us something. Or maybe some political scandal will happen there. |

De Ptolémée (né vers 90 après J.-C. à Ptolémaïs d’Hermias, dans la Thébaïde d’Égypte, mort à Canope vers 170), on ne retient souvent que le système astronomique qui fait de la Terre le centre de l’Univers. Et pourtant, cinq siècles avant lui, Aristarque de Samos avait émis l’hypothèse que la terre tournait sur elle-même autour du soleil.
Mais Ptolémée est d’abord un mathématicien. Les pages de sa Syntaxe mathématique, plus connue sous le nom d’Almageste (Le grand traité), reprennent partie les données et observations d’un autre astronome alexandrin, Hipparque de Nicée. Dans son Traité d’astrologie, Claude Ptolémée nous transmet le résultat de plus de sept siècles de science grecque.
Le Tetrabiblos fut l’ouvrage le plus célèbre de l’Antiquité. Il exerça et exerce encore une grande influence dans l’étude des corps célestes de la sphère sublunaire.
De Ptolémée (né vers 90 après J.-C. à Ptolémaïs d’Hermias, dans la Thébaïde d’Égypte, mort à Canope vers 170), on ne retient souvent que le système astronomique qui fait de la Terre le centre de l’Univers. Et pourtant, cinq siècles avant lui, Aristarque de Samos avait émis l’hypothèse que la terre tournait sur elle-même autour du soleil.
Mais Ptolémée est d’abord un mathématicien. Les pages de sa Syntaxe mathématique, plus connue sous le nom d’Almageste (Le grand traité), reprennent partie les données et observations d’un autre astronome alexandrin, Hipparque de Nicée. Dans son Traité d’astrologie, Claude Ptolémée nous transmet le résultat de plus de sept siècles de science grecque.
Le Tetrabiblos fut l’ouvrage le plus célèbre de l’Antiquité. Il exerça et exerce encore une grande influence dans l’étude des corps célestes de la sphère sublunaire.

Dimanche 20 mars c’est le début du printemps pour l’hémisphère nord…
C’est l’équinoxe de mars qui défini le début du printemps (ou de l’automne pour l’hémisphère sud). L’équinoxe est un phénomène astronomique qui correspond au moment où le Soleil se retrouve pile dans l’alignement de l’équateur, comme dans le schéma ci-dessus. Cela signifie que le soleil est au zénith de l’équateur et qu’il éclaire la terre perpendiculairement à son axe de rotation. C’est la raison pour laquelle, lors de l’équinoxe et donc lors du passage de l’hiver au printemps (ou de l’été à l’automne) le jour et la nuit sont de durée égale (équinoxe, du latin aequus: égal et nox, noctis: nuit).
Pourquoi le jour et la nuit sont-ils de durée égale seulement à l’équinoxe?
Comprendre le phénomène des saisons est la première étape pour bien comprendre le phénomène des équinoxes. Si nous avons des saisons sur la Terre, c’est parce que son axe de rotation est incliné d’environ 23° (par rapport au plan de rotation de la Terre autour du Soleil). En effet la Terre ne tourne pas sur elle-même comme une toupie tournant de façon bien droite, mais plutôt comme un gyroscope. C’est donc parce que la Terre est inclinée, que le Soleil ne l’éclaire pas de la même façon tout au long de l’année. La vidéo ainsi que les schémas ci-dessous permettent une vision claire du phénomène. En hémisphère nord, la durée d’ensoleillement diminue pendant six mois de l’année pour augmenter à nouveau pendant les six mois suivants, les deux points culminant de cette variation étant le solstice d’hiver (durée du jour la plus courte de l’année) et le solstice d’été (durée du jour la plus longue de l’année). L’équinoxe quant à lui, correspond au milieu de ces deux extrêmes.
Lors de sa rotation annuelle autour du Soleil, la Terre se retrouve donc deux fois dans la position où le Soleil est pile à la verticale de l’équateur. Une première fois en mars, lors de l’équinoxe de printemps et une seconde en septembre, lors de l’équinoxe d’automne.

Almost 5.2 million Ukrainians flee war: UN

Geneva (AFP) - The number of Ukrainians who have fled the country since Russia’s invasion two months ago is approaching 5.2 million, the UN refugee agency said Sunday.
The total figure of 5,186,744 is an increase of 23,058 over Saturday’s data, the UNHCR said.
More than 1,151,000 Ukrainians have left during April so far, compared with 3.4 million in the month of March alone.
The latest figures come as Ukrainians mark Orthodox Easter Sunday.
“For the people of Ukraine, and those forced to flee the country, it will be another day of fear, anguish, loss and separation from loved ones, as war continues to rage without mercy,” the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi wrote on Twitter.
“May strength and courage be with them.”
The UN’s International Organization for Migration (IOM) said an additional 218,000 citizens of third countries – largely students and migrant workers – have also escaped to neighbouring countries since the February 24 invasion.
Women and children account for 90 percent of those who have fled abroad, with men aged 18 to 60 eligible for military call-up unable to leave.
Beyond the refugees, the IOM estimates more than 7.7 million people have been displaced within Ukraine.
Almost two-thirds of Ukrainian children have had to flee their homes, including those who remain in the country.
Before the invasion, Ukraine had a population of 37 million in the regions under government control, excluding Russia-annexed Crimea and the pro-Russian separatist-controlled regions in the east.
Here is a breakdown of how many Ukrainian refugees have fled to neighbouring countries, according to UNHCR:
- Poland -
Nearly six out of 10 Ukrainian refugees – 2,899,713 so far – have crossed into Poland.
Many of them have travelled on to other states in Europe’s Schengen open-borders zone.
Meanwhile, more than 800,000 people have crossed from Poland into Ukraine, Polish border guards said.
Before the war, Poland was home to around 1.5 million Ukrainians, chiefly migrant workers.
- Romania -
A total of 774,074 Ukrainians have entered the EU member state as of April 22, including a large number who crossed over from Moldova, wedged between Romania and Ukraine.
The vast majority are thought to have gone on to other countries.
- Russia -
Another 578,255 refugees have sought shelter in Russia, according to data last updated on April 21.
In addition, 105,000 people crossed into Russia from the separatist-held pro-Russian regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine between February 18 and 23.
- Hungary -
A total of 489,754 Ukrainians have entered Hungary.
- Moldova -
The Moldovan border is the closest to the major port city of Odessa. A total of 433,214 Ukrainians have crossed into the non-EU state, one of the poorest in Europe. Most have moved on.
- Slovakia -
A total of 354,329 people have crossed Ukraine’s shortest border into Slovakia.
- Belarus -
Another 24,084 refugees made it north to Russia’s close ally Belarus as of April 21.
